For this series I create acrylic paintings inspired by the North American landscape. I experiment with texture and depth by using various mediums and incorporating thread into the works. This threading technique is one I thought of a few years ago and soon fell in love with. I begin by creating simplified abstracted landscapes and then spend hours hand sewing hundreds of layers of thread into the canvas. Doing so brings together a geometric and structured element to a purely organic subject matter, creating new dimension and subtle detail the viewer notices when viewed up close.
